1. Give them a reason to believe
Every company has a mission and vision statement, but do your employees know yours? Have a meeting focused on why your mission and vision are what they are, maybe even hand out little reminders of what your company stands for. This helps your employees know that they are working for something bigger than just themselves.
2. Show them that you care
Make sure to celebrate the little things such as birthdays or pregnancy. You want to show them that you don’t only care about them as an employee but a person too.
3. Acknowledge the good
Give rewards or at least recognition for outstanding performance. The more you encourage good work the more you are going to see good work. People like to feel appreciated and saying “Good Job” can do it but writing a note or recognizing them in front of the company can instill that appreciation even more.
4. Promote from inside
Give your employees something to work for. If you promote from the inside and move up workers you already have this gives people hope of one day holding a position higher than where they are in your company.
5. Have some fun!
Yes work needs to get done, but everyone needs a little break. If you have a designated time for fun then people know they have that to look for and typically won’t mess around while on the clock.
